Hand painted ceramics – tableware – “Robiny forest”

August 10, 2012 § 8 Comments

Tiny robins hop around amongst fantastical floating plants in a snowy forest!  These strange plants were inspired from duckweed.  Duckweeds are very small and float on the surface of a pond. Lots of duckweeds make a green carpet on top of the water. Have you seen an individual duckweed leaf?  I love them – a tiny rounded leaf with a single root, then it just floats on the water…when they are all massed together, they look like sci-fi plants!

I painted this as a Christmas gift. It has been very warm here and it was a bit difficult for me to get into a winter Christmas mood though. But when I began painting the robins and the falling snow, I was suddenly transported to Christmas morning 🙂
