Summer Dorset

I was on holiday in Dorset countryside last week. Unfortunately, I couldn’t really take many photos as we had rainy and dull weather for most of our holiday. Here are some photos of Thomas Hardy’s Cottage, Arne natural reserve and Portland Bill – all of which we enjoyed. I really loved the heathland at Arne, with it’s bright, blooming heather carpet, it was absolutely dreamy. Every plant was deep shiny green and looked very healthy (maybe rain drops made the atmosphere as well). I saw big dragonflies and lots of wild deer. Deer are familiar to me because there is a big deer park in my home town where I grew up in Japan. There, they hang around in the park (plus even outside the park) and steal picnic lunches from human hands like cheeky seagulls in Brighton! But the deer in Arne haven’t forgotten the survival fear and caution of living life in the wild!
I got french biscuits from my mum-in-law and the inside packaging is very pretty:)
Beautiful photos; the colour of the heather is lovely!
Thanks Kerry:)

What a beautiful area! Love the heather!
Yeah, I love it:)
Beautiful colours! I absolutely love the one with the thatched roof cottage! I would love to see something like that someday (we don’t have those in Canada).
Very pretty, isn’t it?

wow Hardy’s cottage! I didn’t know about that, it looks so lovely (but probably very cold in winter!) ….. gorgeous photography!! =)
You should go visit there, it’s a lovely place!
Absolutely stunning photographs. The silver birch forest makes me want to run into it and start collecting lovely natural objects. The heathery path looks wonderful too. Shame you didn’t get good weather but you are right, I think the damp weather adds lots of atmosphere. Its not an area I have visited but your photos make me want to go right now!
Thanks Niki! Birch is one of my favourite trees and I was so excited when I found the forest:)
oh my gosh, sooo beautiful!!
Thanks:)
I originated in N.Yorkshire and the one thing I miss and would really like to see and smell is the heather in bloom….you captured it really well. Devon and Dorset are really beautiful parts of the world…
I wanna live in Dorset in the future.. Maybe I will!
